Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP)

The Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP) designation recognizes event professionals who have successfully demonstrated the knowledge, skills and ability essential to perform all components of a special event. ILEA endorses and manages the voluntary CSEP program for those who meet established standards.

This program was developed to:

  • Increase the proficiency of event professionals
  • Elevate industry standards and practices
  • Establish the level of knowledge and performance necessary for certification
  • Promote the advancement of the special events industry
  • Advance the careers of practitioners

To qualify as a candidate for the CSEP exam, one must have a minimum of three years of full-time events industry employment.

  1. Fill out the application
  2. Pay $600 exam fee – credit card information is collected in the application
  3. Submit proof of three years of full-time events industry employment
    1. Acceptable forms of documentation can include but are not limited to: statement of employment verification from personnel or human resources official, copy of W2 forms (USA applicants only), letter of incorporation. Supporting documentation must be submitted in English. If these documents are in a language other than English, the candidate is responsible for having the documents translated into English and notarized. Submission information is located in the exam application
  4. Approved candidates will receive a notification with exam scheduling information. Candidates are responsible for scheduling their exam at their chosen testing location

ILEA Arizona CSEP Scholarship

ILEA-Arizona is now accepting scholarship applications from Chapter members to take the CSEP Exam in 2018.

The 2018 ILEA CSEP scholarship applications will be accepted from ILEA Arizona members in good standing as of the date of award and award is contingent upon current membership as of the dates of testing.  Application points are accumulated for service and contributions to the chapter and industry from September 1, 2017 to September 1, 2018.  The award of scholarship(s) is based upon accumulated points and at the discretion of the ILEA Arizona Chapter Board.

NOTE: Previous recipients of a scholarship from ILEA Arizona for the CSEP Exam are ineligible.

The scholarship recipient’s award will be a reimbursement for CSEP Exam Registration. Receipt and actual attendance for the exam will be required for reimbursement. 

Scholarships are (1) a special recognition for outstanding service, and (2) a chapter investment in the development of future leaders. Top 10 candidates (based on points) will be required to write a one-page essay on what the CSEP Exam means to them. Top 10 candidates will be notified of their ranking by September 5, 2018. The essay will be due September 8, 2018 by 5pm Arizona Time.
